Your Privacy
This page explains what happens to information about you when you read Mother Earth Coffee and Gifts or get in touch with us. The short version: very little. The site is built as a collection of static pages, it has no user accounts, no comment system, no analytics and no advertising, and we do not try to identify who you are.
What we do not do
- We do not run analytics tools, visitor counters or heatmaps.
- We do not show advertising or load advertising scripts.
- We do not use tracking pixels, fingerprinting or social media widgets that follow you around the web.
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
- We do not build profiles of readers.
Your cookie-banner choice
On your first visit, a slim bar at the bottom of the screen mentions cookies. Whichever button you press, your answer is saved in your own browser using local storage, so the banner does not keep reappearing on every page. That single entry stays on your device; it is not sent to us and contains nothing that identifies you. Clearing the site data in your browser wipes it whenever you like. More detail is on The Cookie Page.
Hosting and server logs
Like any website, our pages are delivered by a hosting provider. When your browser requests a page, the provider's servers automatically record standard technical information, such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser type and whether the request succeeded. These logs exist to keep the service running, to deal with errors and to protect against abuse. We do not use them to profile readers, and they are kept only for the limited period the provider needs for those purposes.
When you email us
If you write to us at team@motherearthcoffeeandgifts.com, or use the form on our Say Hello page (which simply opens your own email program), we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write. We use this only to read and answer your message, and to fix an article if you have spotted a mistake. We do not add you to a mailing list. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for that conversation and then delete it.
Legal basis
Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, we process server log data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website, and we process emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, or to take steps you have asked for.
Your rights
Wherever data protection law gives you rights, they usually include the following:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to, or ask us to limit, the way we use it;
- receive a copy of information you gave us in a portable format;
- raise a complaint with the data protection regulator where you live.
Just send a note to the address above if you would like to exercise any of them. We will answer as quickly as we reasonably can, and we may ask for enough detail to find the right messages.
Links to other websites
Now and then an article points to another website. Once you follow a link, the other site's own privacy practices apply, and we encourage you to read them.
Children
This site is written for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this page
If the way the site works changes, for example if we ever added a feature that handled data differently, we would update this page first. Our general terms of use are on the Terms & Conditions page.
